Herefordshire Council was awarded £4.97 million from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) for the Destination Hereford project from 2011 to 2015. This was to reduce congestion and help improve journey choices.

The Department for Transport praised the bid citing its strong focus on increasing active travel, such as walking and cycling, and reducing obesity, as well as improving sustainable access for rural communities through the park and share scheme.
Destination Hereford Phase 2
Herefordshire Council has recently submitted a funding bid to the Department for Transport's Transition Fund in order to extend the successful Destination Hereford project through 2016/17 with a particular focus on walking and cycling.
