Support for employers

Herefordshire Council are leading the way by establishing a workplace travel plan to ensure all employees of the council have support in making sustainable travel choices. We want to encourage sustainable travel across the county, reducing congestion and pollution.

We offer grants to Hereford businesses and organisations to support sustainable travel to work and to help reduce business mileage.

Possible areas of grant funding include:

  • Travel plan development
  • Secure cycle racks
  • Pool bikes, including folding bikes, for business use
  • Changing facilities for cyclists, clothes lockers and wardrobes
  • Remote working and video conferencing equipment

To apply for a grant, businesses and organisations will need to register as a member of Herefordshire Council's Travel for Work network. Travel for Work is a free service for sustainable travel information, promotions and events for employees. To find out more, contact us on 01432 260514 or move@herefordshire.gov.uk

The grants form part of the Destination Hereford 2 project, which aims to support local sustainable growth, improve active access to jobs, skills, training and education and reduce CO2 emissions. It is funded by the Department for Transport.

Free cycle parking for businesses and organisations in Herefordshire

Having a safe place for customers to park their bikes, not only supports the use of bicycles in the local area, but allows businesses and organisations to promote their green credentials and reduce cycle theft. A new scheme that offers FREE workplace cycle parking to small businesses and voluntary organisations in Herefordshire has been launched by cycling charity Life Cycle UK, in partnership with Herefordshire Council. Life Cycle UK's 'Take A Stand®' scheme helps smaller organisations to install secure cycle parking on their premises.

Small businesses, shops and community groups in Herefordshire are all eligible for up to four free steel cycle parking stands - enough to provide secure parking for eight bikes. Stands are provided, delivered and installed completely free of charge.

Find out more and apply online at Life Cycle UK or email frances@lifecycleuk.org.uk
