Get ready for the Summer Reading Challenge 2021

Summer Reading Challenge 2021 - Wild World Heroes

It's time once again for the annual Summer Reading Challenge, and the theme this year is Wild World Heroes.

The challenge, delivered in partnership with The Reading Agency and WWF, encourages reading for pleasure. This year is a special nature-themed challenge that will inspire children up to the age of 12 to explore ways they can make a difference to the environment.

Wild World Heroes is available from the Summer Reading Challenge website from 10 July and free in libraries across Herefordshire from Saturday 17 July until Saturday 11 September.

Visit the library to collect a Wild Heroes Challenge in a bag. The bag will contain all the items needed to complete the challenge, including some terrific rewards.

Our Wild World Heroes live in Wilderville, a pretty cool place, but there are lots of things that the Wild World Heroes can do to make their town even better for the people and animals that live there.

How the reading challenge works

  • Children visit their local Herefordshire library to pick up their Wild World Heroes collector bag
  • Children can read books of their own choice during the summer, adding special stickers to complete their folder and enjoying rewards along the way
  • Libraries offer FREE membership, new book titles and fun events to encourage families to take part
  • Children who take part in the Summer Reading Challenge can collect a certificate and medal from their library

We want to support families to enjoy fun reading activities this summer. View our library opening times.
