Herefordshire Council is committed to supporting our colleagues to thrive. We provide and support a range of training and development opportunities, including apprenticeships.

When we have apprenticeships available, we advertise them on our job vacancies website.

Interested in being an apprentice? Hear from some of our apprentices

Apprenticeships offer a variety of opportunities, whether that is growing in your current role or specialism or wanting to pursue a different career. Hear about the benefits of an apprenticeship from some of our apprentices who have shared their experiences.

Abbey Collings, Project Manager

Abbey decided to change career path while in employment and was able to do that with an apprenticeship programme - so she could still earn while she was learning which was important as she had financial responsibilities that needed to be covered.

Kirsty Sheehan, Learning and Organisational Development Partner

On leaving school Kirsty didn't feel the traditional further education route was for her - so started an apprenticeship which complemented her learning style and meant she could earn and learn. Now she supports other apprentice's on their journey.

Career opportunities

We are committed to developing the careers of all colleagues and recognise that continued professional development is critical in facilitating progression. Below you can see the career opportunities for a variety of specialisms within the council.
