Why wasn't my bin collected?
We collect over 4 million wheelie bins every year, so sometimes we will make a mistake and miss your bin.
If we do, just report a missed bin collection as soon as possible and we will arrange to collect your rubbish or recycling, unless your bin was rejected due to an issue such as contamination. We will only return to collect missed bins if you have reported it to us within two working days of your missed collection.
So we don't miss your bin in future, please make sure it is at the boundary of your property, or in the agreed collection location by 6.30am on the day of your collection.
Why we sticker or tag your waste
If we cannot take away your rubbish or recycling, our collection crews will put a tag or sticker on a wheelie bin or sack to explain why. This will also suggest an alternative disposal method. For example, if there is too much rubbish or recycling for us to collect, you could take it to one of our household recycling centres. Or, you could perhaps get a larger bin from us if you often have too much rubbish or recycling for us to take.
Waste from a business, including holiday lets and childminders, is classed as business waste and should be collected separately. Find out more about business waste.
Garden waste should be composted if possible, otherwise it can be placed in Herefordshire Council green garden waste sacks and put out with your black bin or sacks for collection as normal. You can find out where to buy green sacks on the garden waste page.
Damaged wheelie bins
Bins are the property of the council, however you are responsible for keeping the bin in a safe place, in a clean condition and for reporting any damaged, lost or stolen bins.
There is a charge for replacement bins. Replacement bins may not always be new but will be fully serviceable.
After reporting a damaged bin, please leave it somewhere accessible, so we can change it without disturbing you.
