Building control

Customers affected by Assent Building Consultancy (including Oculus and LBC)

  • Assent ceased trading: As of Friday 31 October 2025, Assent Building Consultancy Ltd stopped trading, and all existing building control applications (INs) have been cancelled.
  • Action required: Property owners (clients) no longer have a valid application for building control. Works must stop until a new Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA) is appointed.
  • Transfer process (Herefordshire Council example): You should email bce@herefordshire.gov.uk with a copy of your cancellation notice and include your latest inspection report, which you can download via links provided by Assent. The initial fee is £240, covering the application and an initial site inspection. A Registered Building Inspector (RBI) will assess the project and determine further costs for completion.
