Save a local service

Through Community Rights measures in the Localism Act, individuals, communities and parish councils can work together to protect and preserve local community assets such as the local shop, pub or post office.

To read more about successful projects and for useful contacts, please download the Saving rural retail services guide.

The Parish Liaison and Rural Services Officer can also offer assistance on any issue connected with keeping rural services sustainable and serving communities.

BT telephone box consultation 2019

British Telecommunications (BT) held a review of payphones in Herefordshire during 2019. Parish councils with affected phone boxes elected either to agree with removal, ask to adopt it, or object on specific grounds.

BT's consultation has now closed and you can view our local response, which has been through the Herefordshire Council decision making process.

Notifications were sent to British Telecommunications and the Secretary of State, as required by Ofcom.
