Business continuity

Would your business cope in an emergency? What would happen if you needed to close your business for a few weeks?

Effective business continuity management helps companies and organisations to anticipate risks and plan a response ahead of time. This helps to recover faster and get back to work sooner after a major disruptive event like a fire, a flood or even a significant IT failure.

The West Mercia Local Resilience Forum (WMLRF) produces a Community Risk Register (CRR). This register localises the national risks and threats identified at a national level. Reviewing the CRR will allow business to understand the wider national picture and provide an opportunity to assess their own risks. View the Community Risk Register.

The Business Continuity Institute provides detailed advice and support for all business continuity matters.

The National Cyber Security Centre provides detailed advice on Cyber Security. View the guidance for small businesses. Following the advice provided will go some considerable way to help preventing a cyber attack on your business. Be Cyber Aware provides specific advice about staying safe online.

If you believe that you or your business has been the victim of online fraud, scams or extortion then you should report it to the Action Fraud website. Action Fraud are the link to the police intelligence and investigating authorities.

At risk of flooding? Are you signed up to the Environment Agency (EA) flood warnings? And for other adverse weather events are you signed up to the Met Office?

Recovery from flooding

If you have been affected by flooding there are a number of sources of information to assist you in your recovery. The National Flood Forum is a good source of information.

Always ensure that you inform your insurance company at the earliest opportunity.
