Herefordshire Language Network
We have created the Herefordshire Language Network to provide an interpreting service using local linguists. We provide high quality, low cost face-to-face, video, and telephone interpreting, as well as text translation to public, private and voluntary organisations. All members of the network are fully trained and stick to a code of conduct that ensures confidentiality.

Become a translator or interpreter
We are always looking for new linguists to join the Network, particularly people who speak less common languages such as Arabic, Kurdish, Pashto, Turkish, Latvian, Bengali, Urdu, Gujarati, Tamil, Thai, Tigrinya, Oromo, Farsi, Azeri, Amharic, Korean and anyone fluent in British Sign Language (minimum NVQ Level 3).
You will need to have a high standard of English as well as the required language, and you must live in Herefordshire or a neighbouring county and be:
- Professional, confident, reliable, organised and committed to providing excellent customer service
- Eligible to work in the UK and aged over 18
- Willing to work on a freelance basis. This means you must register as self-employed and declare your earnings to HM Revenue & Customs
- Willing to take our Foundation Training for Interpreters course first, if you do not already have a recognised translating or interpreting qualification
