Healthy weight

When we eat and drink more calories than we need our bodies store the excess as body fat. If this continues over time we can become overweight and even become very overweight. To help keep yourself a healthy weight it is important to eat a healthy diet and be physically active. Being overweight can put your health at risk so losing just 5% -10% will often make a big difference and can:

  • Increase your energy levels so you feel less tired
  • Help you move about more easily without getting out of breath
  • Reduce any back and joint pain
  • Lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels
  • Cut your risk of diabetes and heart disease, stroke and some cancers
