About the Herefordshire Healthy Tots Programme
The Herefordshire Healthy Tots Programme provides a template for teaching, planning, tracking and monitoring the health and wellbeing of children and young people in early years settings.
The programme aims to help support and celebrate the good work in schools around the following three themes:
- Emotional health and wellbeing/lifestyle influence
- Physical activity
- Healthy food, drink and oral health
Parent information
Settings that achieve Healthy Tots Status demonstrate their commitment to supporting children's health and wellbeing and work closely with families to reinforce healthy messages both at home and within the setting. The programme is supported by Herefordshire Council's Public Health Team, helping providers to continuously improve and celebrate good practice.
What this means for parents
By choosing a Healthy Tots setting, parents can be reassured that their child is being cared for in an environment that values healthy eating, active play, emotional wellbeing and positive health behaviours. Children are supported to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive both now and in the future, giving children the best start in life.
