Information held about you

Nordic Walking Courses are operated by our partner Ignite CIC, you sign up to the scheme when you contact Ignite CIC to book a place on the Nordic Walking courses or Nordic led walks.

When you sign up we need to collect the following data:

  • Contact information, such as full name and telephone number and email address
  • Information on any health/fitness issues that may be relevant, age category and height
  • User communications, feedback, suggestions and ideas sent to us, and
  • Information that you provide to us when you contact us for support regarding the service
Who is processing your data

All personal data held is processed in accordance with data protection law. The data controller for the information outlined in this privacy notice is Herefordshire Council and Ignite CIC is the data processor.

Once submitted, we will not share your personal information with any other party. We are committed to protecting your privacy and security at all times. Whenever you provide personal information, we will treat that information with confidence in accordance with this policy, current UK Data Protection legislation and Internet best practice.

How we will use the information we hold about you

We will use the information that we collect only to provide, develop and improve the service.

Examples of such use include:

  • Communicating with you regarding your attendance of the courses
  • Conducting research to improve the service
  • Communicating with you regarding other Nordic Walking courses or Nordic led walks that may be of interest
How the law allows us to use your information

The legal basis for processing the data is:

  • Your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by notifying us at move@herefordshire.gov.uk Please note withdrawal of consent to process your data will necessitate cancelling your place on the Nordic walking courses
Who we will share your information with

We will not pass your information to any third parties without your consent (other than site owners/managers).

The council employees who have access to your personal data and are associated with the handling of that data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of your personal data. The council employees referred to in this clause shall be restricted to those involved in the administration and running of the scheme.

How long we keep your personal information

We will only keep your information until you choose to opt out of the contact list or the Nordic Walks are discontinued. All information will be held securely and destroyed under confidential conditions.

Your rights

You have a number of rights under data protection law, including the right to request your information and to request that the information is amended or erased if incorrect.

To request your records, you will need to provide proof of identification and write to the Information Governance Team, Herefordshire Council, Plough Lane, Hereford HR4 0LE or email informationgovernance@herefordshire.gov.uk

You also have the right to make a complaint about our handling of your personal data to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Providing accurate information
It is important that we hold accurate and up to date information about you to assess your needs and deliver the appropriate services. If any of your details have changed, or change in the future, please tell us so that we can update your records.
