If you live in a property where changes have been made to help a resident child or adult who has a permanent disability, you may be eligible for a Disabled Band Reduction.
If you are eligible the Council Tax will be charged at the rate of the band below it. If you are in the lowest band already (band A) , then we will reduce your bill by one ninth of a band D charge.
The disabled person must be living in the property, and the property must have at least one of the following:
- a room which is not a bathroom, kitchen or toilet which is mainly used by, and is essential for meeting the needs of the disabled person
- an additional kitchen or bathroom adapted for the needs of the disabled person or
- space for a wheelchair to be used within the property by the disabled person
You will need to complete an application form and provide confirmation from a medical professional that the disabled person needs these special features in the property because of their disability.
Please note: The form must be completed in full and be signed by the relevant parties. If the form is not completed in full your application will be closed.
