Heating oil and LPG crisis support

The Government has provided additional funding through the Crisis and Resilience Fund to help low-income households that rely on heating oil or LPG for heating and hot water.

This support is available to residents experiencing severe financial hardship and who may be at risk of being unable to afford an essential fuel top-up.

What support is available?

Eligible households can receive a one-off £300 payment in the form of a prepaid oil card. The card can only be used with heating oil and LPG suppliers.

All successful applicants will also be referred to energy resilience services for additional advice and support.

Who can apply?

You may be eligible if:

  • You use heating oil or LPG as your primary source of heating
  • You receive means-tested benefits (Pension credit, Universal credit, Housing Benefit, Council tax benefit) or
  • Gross household income is under £36,000 for a family or under £28,000 for a single person (evidence will be required)
  • Savings - capital limits for means tested benefits apply
  • Each application will be assessed individually against the scheme criteria

How to apply

Once we receive your email we will then send you details of the information and evidence required to support your application.

Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria, or where requested evidence is not provided within five working days, may be declined or closed.

For those with no internet access please call 01432 260530 please leave a voicemail message with your name and telephone number. We will contact you within five working days.
