Common land in Herefordshire
Common land is land, usually in private ownership, over which certain people have certain rights and on which certain restrictions have been placed. The main features of common land are that it is generally open, unfenced and unimproved grassland and located mainly in the upland areas of England and Wales.

There are approximately 600,000 hectares of common land in England and Wales and approximately 5,000 hectares in Herefordshire, broken down as follows:

The register is available for public inspection on Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays) between the hours of 10am and 4pm by prior appointment with the commons registration section.
