Prevention of fraud investigations

The council is committed to open data publication under the local government transparency code 2015.


Number of occasions we have used powers under the Prevention of Social Housing Fraud (Power to Require Information) (England) Regulations 201444, or similar powers:

  • The use/authorisation of powers under the Prevention of Social Housing Fraud (Power to Require Information) (England) Regulations have been transferred from the council to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)

  • Herefordshire Council publicly discloses information relating the fraud referrals and number of cases investigated within the annual fraud report presented each year to the council's Audit and Governance Committee. This is to ensure effective governance and transparency requirements are met.
