Hereford South West Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board

What is Pride in Place?

Pride in Place is a national programme providing up to £20 million of investment over 10 years for neighbourhoods identified as most in need of support.

The funding is designed to help communities:

  • Build stronger connections
  • Create thriving, welcoming places
  • Empower local people to shape decisions about their area

The programme is designed to be flexible, so investment is driven by what matters most to residents and businesses.

Independent Chair Recruitment

Community partners in Hereford are looking for an Independent Chair for the Hereford South West Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.

This role is about championing the area, bringing together local voices and helping shape how long-term Pride in Place investment supports the community over the next 10 years. The Independent Chair will support a collaborative, community-led approach, ensuring a wide range of views help shape priorities for the area.

The Neighbourhood Board will work with residents, businesses, community groups and public sector partners to develop a shared vision for the future of Hereford South West.

This role is about bringing people together, listening to local voices, and championing a shared vision for the future of the area.

Why a Neighbourhood Board?

Each Pride in Place area will establish a Neighbourhood Board to:

  • Develop a 10-year vision for the area
  • Agree local priorities
  • Oversee delivery of projects funded through the programme

The Board brings together residents, community groups, local organisations and elected representatives to ensure decisions reflect local needs and ambitions.

Why an Independent Chair?

The Independent Chair plays a vital role in ensuring the Board:

  • Is community-led, inclusive and collaborative
  • Brings together a wide range of voices
  • Focuses on long-term change rather than short-term interests

The Chair is a champion for their place, helping people share ideas openly and work together to improve the area over the next decade.

You do not need to have chaired a board before. What matters most is your commitment to your community and your ability to bring people together.
