Poll card information

Poll card envelope from Herefordshire Council

The poll card was historically an A5 piece of card. It's now an A4 letter enclosed in a clearly marked envelope. This allows us to include the information all councils must now provide about the new voter ID requirements.

Your poll card is only for information purposes. It gives:

  • Your name as it is stated on the electoral roll
  • Where you need to go to vote
  • Statutory deadlines, such as the deadline to apply for a postal vote or a Voter Authority Certificate

You do not have to take your poll card with you to vote. You cannot use your poll card as voter ID. You will need to take an acceptable form of photo ID. If you don't have any of this you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate.
