Driver training

Refresher training for older drivers

For many older people in Herefordshire a driving licence provides vital independence, the ability to keep in touch with friends and family, attend appointments and social events. We are committed to helping people keep their independent mobility while remaining safe on the road.

You may recognise your driving is changing, and while everyone ages differently, our health, mobility, eyesight and reactions change as we age. A different vehicle, unfamiliar in-car technology, a house move, or change in circumstance may encourage you to consider a driving refresher from a friendly, experienced instructor.

We offer drivers who live in Herefordshire and are aged 70 or over a two hour practical driving session with an approved driving instructor, in their own vehicle.

It will only cost you £20 - Herefordshire Council will pay the remainder of the fee.
