Volunteer drivers are the lifeblood of Herefordshire's community transport schemes which offer an affordable door-to-door solution for anyone who is unable to use public transport. The schemes provide transport for those who are without transport or access to public transport, enabling them to get to essential services like doctors and hospitals as well as social and learning events.

Some volunteer drivers use their own cars, and are paid a mileage rate to cover the petrol and running costs of their vehicle. Others drive scheme-owned minibuses and wheelchair-accessible vehicles, for which full training is given. If you can't drive, volunteers are also required to help out in our busy booking offices.

By becoming a volunteer you can:

• Help people get out and about in their communities
• Meet new people, learn new skills, and make new friends
