Park and Share frequently asked questions

Is there a charge to join?

No, both Park and Share and Park and Cycle are free to join and car park spaces are offered free of charge by our partners. In view of this, we do urge members to abide by the conditions of use for their site and to support partner businesses whenever they can.

I have changed my car. Do I need to let you know?

Yes, please let us know of any changes to the information that you have provided us with as soon as possible. We need to pass on your new vehicle details to your parking location so that they are aware of who is using their site and to issue a revised parking pass. Please also ensure your contact details are up to date so that we can get in touch quickly if necessary.

Can I park at any location in the scheme?

No, your membership is limited to the one location you have been granted permission to use. Please park in the area specified (see detail listed under location of spaces) if one is listed. You must display a Park and Share/Park and Cycle pass in your vehicle when left on site.

Where can I advertise my offer to share a lift?

Go to the twoshare website and register your journey details. You can then search the database to find people with similar journeys who are also looking to share. The system will provide you with a summary of options and then you can decide who to make contact with. Remember with Park and Share you don't have to share for the whole of your journey, so you may have more options to find a successful match. You could also try asking around where you work to see if anyone who travels your route wants to share, or maybe posting something on your message or notice board.

I'm running late and I'm worried my car will be locked in. What should I do?

Firstly, please only choose a location with fixed opening and closing times if you know that you can meet those times comfortably. Discuss timings with your Park and Share partner and allow time for unexpected delays in your calculations before you make an application. Please make every effort to move your car in good time. However, in extreme circumstances, where the delay is beyond your control, please phone your parking location, giving as much notice as possible, and explain the situation. We cannot guarantee that the location will be able to delay their closing to accommodate you, so you should agree alternative arrangements with your Park and Share partner.

My car's been damaged - what can I do?

Please note that parking at Park and Share/Park and Cycle locations is wholly at the car owners risk. Neither Herefordshire Council or the partner locations can accept any liability for damage or loss sustained to vehicles left on site. Please park in the area specified (see detail listed under location of spaces) if one is listed and please be considerate of other car park users. We advise that you do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.

Do I have to renew my membership?

No, once membership has been confirmed, it runs until either the member decides to leave the scheme and completes a membership cancellation form, or the chosen location withdraws from the scheme. As membership is granted for a specific location, should that partner decide to leave the scheme, members using their location would have their membership withdrawn. We would aim to give members as much notice as possible of a location's decision to withdraw and would encourage them to apply to transfer membership to a space at an alternative site. In the event that no spaces were available at alternative sites, however, we would be unable to offer continued membership.
