The Government's Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) makes £560 million available for packages of transport measures focused on economic growth and reducing carbon emissions.
Herefordshire Council was awarded £4.97 million from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) for the Destination Hereford project. This is to reduce congestion and help improve journey choices. The funding is received over four years from 2011 to 2015.

The Department for Transport praised the bid citing its strong focus on increasing active travel, such as walking and cycling, and reducing obesity, as well as improving sustainable access for rural communities through the park and share scheme.
