National Year of Reading 2026

A national movement to get everyone into reading

The National Year of Reading 2026 is a UK-wide campaign designed to help more people rediscover the joy of reading.

Reading expands minds, builds confidence and fuels creativity but busy lives and endless distractions make this more challenging than ever.

The power of libraries

Herefordshire Libraries will be spending 2026 celebrating the magic of books, power of libraries and helping people reconnect reading with everyday life. This isn’t about pressure, targets or feeling guilty about unread books – it’s remembering that stories, ideas and imagination belong everywhere.

Events and activities in 2026

We will be running events in our libraries and getting out into our local communities to share the joy reading.

Keep an eye on Facebook, Instagram and Eventbrite for more details.
