Guidelines for visiting Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre

Opening hours

  • Tuesday 10am to 4pm
  • Wednesday 10am to 4pm
  • Thursday 10am to 4pm
  • Friday 10am to 4pm
  • Saturday (second in the month) 10am to 4pm

Before your visit

  • Please contact us to reserve a document research space, microfilm reader or public access computer in advance of your visit.
  • Please make sure that we hold the archives you wish to consult before you make your booking by checking our online catalogue and index or emailing archives@herefordshire.gov.uk
  • We encourage you to pre-order up to three documents as part of your booking.

  • Please email to make a booking, giving the references of any three items you would like to order in advance
  • We will confirm your booking by email

Remember to bring:

  • A valid Archives Card - you can register for an Archives Card before you visit
  • Pencils and paper for note taking. Pens are not allowed in the search room
  • A camera or phone for photographing documents. Please see our service charges for associated costs

During your visit:

  • We have a refreshment area, with a hot drinks vending machine, outside the search room
  • Do take some time to look at our current exhibition in the atrium
  • You will be allocated a desk and locker for all bags and items not allowed in the search room
