Care in your own home

Home care, also sometimes called domiciliary care, can help you to live at home and remain independent for longer. Care workers can provide a range of support and assist you with essential tasks such as washing and dressing, preparing and eating food and using the toilet.

You can find more information to help you remain independent in your own home on the Talk Community Directory - Support yourself at home and extensive information about the practicalities of finding care or caring for someone at home on the NHS Choices website - Your guide to care and support.

This support can be provided through a care agency. The Herefordshire Directory of Registered Domiciliary Care Providers 2020-21 provides details of local home care providers and advice on what to consider when selecting care to suit your needs. You can also search online for local home care providers on NHS Choices - local homecare services and agencies directory.

If the person needing care lives in Herefordshire and you would like help with arranging this care please go to our Guide to getting help for yourself or someone you care for section.

If you need a short period of rehabilitation in your own home find out more about Herefordshire Council's reablement service - Home First.
