The Carers Partnership Board is a collaborative forum dedicated to representing the voice of unpaid carers across Herefordshire. It brings together carers of all ages, professionals, and community organisations to shape services, influence policy, and improve outcomes for those who provide unpaid care.
Unpaid carers play a vital role in supporting family members, friends, or loved ones facing challenges due to illness, disability, frailty, or addiction. The Board ensures that their experiences, insights, and needs are heard, respected, and acted upon.
Our Purpose
The Board exists to:
- Champion the voice of unpaid carers, ensuring their lived experience informs decision-making.
- Promote wellbeing and inclusion, recognising the emotional, physical, and social impact of caring.
- Drive service improvement, feeding back from public engagement and identifying areas for change.
- Support co-production, working alongside carers to design and deliver better support systems.
Guided by the Carers Strategy
The Board’s work is shaped by the Herefordshire All Age Carers Strategy 2024–2029, which sets out a shared vision:
“Herefordshire is a carer-friendly county, where carers of all ages are recognised, valued, heard and enabled to live a healthy, fulfilling family life.”
Key priorities include:
- Value and Recognition: Ensuring carers feel acknowledged and supported.
- Staying Healthy: Supporting carers to maintain their own physical and mental wellbeing while balancing their caring responsibilities.
- Young Carers: Ensuring that young and young adult carers are recognised and properly supported
- Assessments: Improving access to Carers Assessments
- Information: improve the quality and accessibility of information and resources available to carer
Spotlight on Young Carers
A specific focus on young carers is delivered through a dedicated sub-group of the Board: The Young Carers Support Squad. The name was chosen by young carers who attend the Hereford Young and Young Carers Club. The Squad is focused on helping to identify young carers and encouraging schools and colleges to improve understanding, provide support, and offer appropriate signposting.
