Work, study, training - care leavers

We want to help you to reach your goals and fulfil your potential with accessing higher and further education and work opportunities. Talk with your personal advisor about what you hope to do, or to talk about different options. The plans you decide on will become part of your Pathway Plan.

All young people must attend school until 16. After that you must either remain in education, at your school or at a sixth form college, or take on vocational training or an apprenticeship until the age of 18. Care leavers who are claiming benefits are entitled to their own work coach, who will help you with finding work or an apprenticeship or suitable training position.

There is a lot of support for care leavers moving into study, training or apprenticeships, and your personal advisor can also help you find out what is available locally as well as nationally.
