Primary schools in Herefordshire

Herefordshire has 79 primary schools, all of which are comprehensive day schools for both boys and girls and three special schools also for boys and girls.

The admissions to community, foundation, voluntary controlled and academy schools are on a non-selective basis and most schools have defined catchment areas. Please note that different admission arrangements apply to schools where the governing body makes the decisions.

Primary schools (4 to 11 year olds)

Our 79 primary schools are broken down as follows:

  • Community - 21
  • Voluntary Controlled - 9 (8 of which are CofE)
  • Academies - 30 (10 of which are CofE)
  • Voluntary Aided - 18 (13 of which are CofE and 3 Roman Catholic)
  • Free school - 1

Thirteen of the primary schools also have nursery classes for 3 and 4 year olds.
