Do I need a commercial vehicle permit?
Only private cars are able to use the household recycling centre without a permit.
All commercial vehicles require a permit to access the household recycling centres. You can use the images and descriptions below to help you decide if your vehicle (and trailer) needs a permit.
We can issue up to 12 permits per annum per household for residents to deposit their own household waste using a commercial vehicle.
Business waste is not accepted at the household recycling centres under any circumstance.
It is an offence to deposit business waste at a household recycling centre, whether you have a permit or not. (Environmental Protection Act 1990)
Vehicles which are not permitted
The following vehicles are not allowed to access any of our household recycling centres under any circumstances.
- Any vehicle exceeding 3.5 tonnes
- Trailers with multiple/double axles
- Tipper vehicles
