Missed collections
There can be a number of reasons why your garden waste might not be collected so before you report a missed collection please check:
- If your neighbours subscribe to the service, see if their garden waste has been collected, we might just be running behind.
- What time you put your bin out. Collection can happen anytime from 6.30am.
- Use our collection day look up to see if you put your garden waste out on the correct day and week.
- To see if we have stickered or tagged your bin or reusable sacks.
We now have technology including CCTV, in our vehicles to monitor collections and maximise efficiency. We use this for live updates on the progress of crews, to keep our crews safe and to ensure collections have been made.
You won't be able to report a missed collection if:
- The crew have not yet visited your property.
- The crew have reported a problem with your collection on their in-cab device.

Please report a missed collection as soon as possible and within 2 working days of the scheduled collection day.
Reason why your garden waste might not have been collected
Reasons we may have not collected your bin:
- Your garden waste was not put out at the boundary of your property nearest to the public highway in time for the collection, garden waste needs to be out by 6.30am.
- Your garden waste contained items unsuitable for collection. We call this contamination. See our list of what can go in your bin and make sure that it contains no unacceptable waste.
- Excess garden waste will not be collected. We will only collect the number of brown bins or reusable sacks that you subscribe to. Bins and sacks must be put out for collection with the lids fully closed. Overfilled bins or sack will not be collected. You can increase the number of garden waste subscriptions at your property or you can book a slot to take additional garden waste to one of our household recycling centres.
- Your bin was damaged meaning it could not be safely emptied during collection. Report a damaged garden waste bin or reusable sack and request a new one.
- Your garden waste bin or reusable sacks were overweight. Please see the terms and conditions for more information.
- Garden waste has been put out for collection incorrectly. Garden waste is no longer collected in green garden waste sacks purchased from Herefordshire Council. The last collection day for these was Friday 27 March 2026.
- Garden waste will only be collected from your property if you subscribe to our garden waste collection service.
- If we cannot collect your garden waste our collection crews will put a tag or sticker on a wheelie bin or reusable sack to explain why. They will also record the reason in their in-cab device. The tag or sticker will provide additional information on what to do next.
