Holme Lacy Road and quiet routes
Holme Lacy Road active travel measures
The Holme Lacy Road scheme is a package of improvements to the existing road surface and spaces for walking and cycling in the south east of Hereford city.
It will run from Oak Crescent at the north-western end to the Thorn Business Park junction at the south-east end.
Improvements will include:
- Resurfacing the carriageway
- Improved crossing points
- Provision of a raised table and high friction surfacing to moderate vehicle speeds
- Improved shared space for cyclists and pedestrians
The most notable features will include a new signalised junction between Holme Lacy Road/Chestnut Drive/Hoarwithy Road, and a widened shared surface at Holme Lacy Road railway bridge, including a new 'shuttle working' arrangement for vehicles.
The scheme closely complements the Western Bypass phase 1, which will reduce traffic on Holme Lacy Road and provide better access for cars and safer active travel into Rotherwas, helping to make this key employment site even more attractive to businesses and investors.

It will include improved signing, lining and crossing points at the following locations:
- Route A - The Pastures/Hoarwithy Road/Cider Press Drive
- Route B - Putson Avenue/Hinton Road
- Route N - Oak Crescent
- Route O - Chestnut Drive/Hoarwithy Road
