This map is part of the Herefordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) work to identify areas throughout the county that are a priority for nature recovery. It seeks to make space for nature, starting with existing wildlife sites and aiming to make them bigger, better, and more joined up. The measures indicated on the map are recommended opportunities for nature recovery and are not compulsory measures that must be carried out.
This map is a draft for the public consultation.
The map indicates:
- Existing areas that are important for biodiversity (APIB) - These are areas that already have national or local habitat designations.
- Areas that could be important for biodiversity (ACIB) - These are areas that have been identified through desk based analysis to suggest where the most suitable habitat should be created, restored or enhanced.
- Specific locations where measures or actions for nature recovery have been identified as a priority.
The measures or actions provided are likely to also be beneficial in many other locations across the county, however, this map suggests the locations that in theory will have the highest impact and provide the most benefit to nature recovery. There are other measures and supporting actions set out in the Priorities and Measures document.
