Herefordshire Council launches funding for young carers support groups
Herefordshire Council is inviting young carers support groups to apply for grant funding of up £5,000.
Recent research has highlighted that there are over 2,700 young carers of secondary school age in Herefordshire.
Looking after a dependant family member or friend can be extremely tough, and there are several groups across the county that offer young people valuable support.
Herefordshire Council recognises the importance of these groups and the difference they can make to a young carer’s life and has made £20,000 of funding available to support their work.
Young carers groups can apply for funding by visiting www.herefordshire.gov.uk/YCSG and downloading an application form and a project cost spreadsheet. Alternatively, to request a paper copy call 01432 260753 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Completed applications must be received by noon on Friday 22 March 2019.
Funding will be allocated across the county to ensure support for young carers is fairly distributed.
Successful applicants will be required to work in partnership with Herefordshire Council’s Young Carers Support Service (YCSS).
If your young carers group has an idea for a project, and you would like to talk to someone about it before applying for funding, please call Children's Commissioning on 01432 260123 or email email@example.com
