Herefordshire Council has issued the following statement in relation to the publication of the agenda for the extraordinary meeting, which will be held in public on Friday 18 January 2019 at 10am in the council chamber at the Shirehall. You can view the meeting agenda here.
An extraordinary meeting will be held on Friday 18 January to receive a report on the two court judgments of Mr Justice Keehan, relating to children’s services, which were published on the 7 December 2018. This is following specific briefing sessions prior to the judgment and follow-on full briefings for all members held in the Shirehall on Thursday 20 December 2018 and Thursday 10 January 2019.
The report also provides information about the actions that have been taken and are planned to deliver the required improvements.
The meeting will help provide further assurance of ongoing improvement. All members have been given the details of the immediate action taken by the council, including implementing stronger supervision and decision making arrangements, and improving the rigour in case reviews.
