Broadlands Primary School – Open Wednesday 13th December – ONLY to Years 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6

We have been working hard to clear snow and we are pleased to say that Broadlands School will be OPEN to Years 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 for those children that can get to school safely on Wednesday 13th December. We are unable to have other years in school due to some staff being unable to get to school safely. We hope to be fully open on Thursday. There will be no breakfast or after school club and any extra curricular clubs are cancelled on Wednesday. Conditions on the roads and pathways to school are still very icy, so please travel to school safely. We will only be opening the main entrance to school and we ask that all children enter and are collected there. Broadlands Lane road has been gritted late Tuesday afternoon, however, at present it still remains icy, but we hope this will improve. The pavements have not been gritted and are still covered in snow/ice. We therefore ask that children wear practical shoes for walking in icy conditions. We ask that children that arrive by car are dropped off outside the main entrance where they will be met by a member of staff and taken into school. We have cleared and gritted pathways through the Aylestone site, but these are unsuitable for pushchairs. There will be no facility to park on the Aylestone site due to a reduced number of spaces for our staff. We ask that children wear practical shoes for walking in icy conditions. For those that would normally have school lunches, AIP have informed us these will still be provided. At present we expect the trip to Courtyard to see Sleeping Beauty to go ahead…oh yes we do!!!

Withington Primary School - Open Wednesday 13th December

We have made the decision to open school on Wednesday 13th December. Conditions on the roads and pathways to school are still very icy, if you feel that you can travel to school safely then we look forward to seeing you. We have done our best to clear pathways around school, we ask that if you are walking you enter through the back gate and then enter school through the back door, staff will be supervising. We recommend that you do not drive to school, the road to school is very icy and the parent car park has not been cleared. Due to these conditions we have decided to postpone the Foxes play until Friday and it will be performed before the Byworth assembly, more details to follow. School dinners – Unfortunately school dinners will not be delivered tomorrow, so can all children bring a packed lunch with them to school. Lastly registration will be at 9.30am, allowing you plenty of time to travel to school safely in the morning.

Staff will be on hand to help you. A big thank you to those that helped today and to the kind people with snow-clearing machinery!

BLACKMARSTON SCHOOL

Unfortunately Blackmarston will remain CLOSED tomorrow 13th December. We are unable to have Years 8 & 9 in school due to some staff being unable to get to school safely. We hope to be fully open on Thursday. There will be no session 6 or any other after school clubs on Wednesday. Conditions on the roads and pathways to school are still very icy, so please travel to school safely. Broadlands Lane road has been gritted late Tuesday afternoon, however, at present it still remains icy, but we hope this will improve. The pavements have not been gritted and are still covered in snow/ice. We therefore ask that children wear practical shoes for walking in icy conditions. Students are asked to only walk on the gritted pathways that have been cleared within school. There will be no facility to park on the Aylestone site due to a reduced number of spaces for our staff. We ask that on arrival to school, children in Y 10 & 11 go directly to the dining hall and Y7 go directly to the lower gym. 16:05 School updates for 13 December

Kingstone High School will be closed on Wednesday 13th December 2017

SLT and the Chair of Governors risk assessed the school site this morning and have decided that due to the large amount of snow still on the ground and it being on top of ice, it would present an undue risk to open tomorrow. Roads in the area are still hazardous and present a risk to all those who would be travelling to the school. Having looked at weather forecasts for the area, we believe this risk would not be eased overnight.

We intend to be open on Thursday as usual.more information follow @KingstoneHigh

Kingstone & Thruxton Primary School will be closed on Wednesday 13th December 2017

Despite a great effort from the staff and volunteers to make the site safe, we are unfortunately remaining CLOSED tomorrow. We plan to be open on Thursday, but please check for updates. KS2 Concert is postponed - more info to follow. @KandTPrimary

Much Birch CE Primary School will be closed on Wednesday 13th December 2017

We have taken the difficult decision to close the school on Wednesday 13th December 2017. A high number of staff are still unable to travel along side roads and gain access to the main roads safely in order to travel to work. As such, our ratios are likely to be insufficient to open the school. In addition to this, the school site and surrounding parking areas are dangerous due to the compacted snow and ice and we have been unable to clear it. This makes access to school unsafe for both staff and pupils. We hope to open on Thursday morning. Party day will now happen on Thursday instead. A decision about the carol concert will be made tomorrow. Thank you so much for your continued support whilst we are having to make such difficult decisions. Please check the website tomorrow for further information about Thursday 14th December.
