Consultation launch November 2017
Herefordshire Council has launched a consultation about plans for residential pitches and temporary stopping places for Travellers and Travelling Showpeople.
Feedback from the six week consultation will contribute towards the Travellers’ Sites development plan, part of Herefordshire Council’s Local Plan which outlines the strategic planning framework for the county's future development needs (such as housing and infrastructure) up to 2031.
Councillor Philip Price, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, said:
“This is a chance for the public and other interested parties to have their say on this vital component of the Herefordshire Local Plan, which will guide decisions on applications for new Gypsy and Traveller pitches and the potential for an authorised stopping place for those travelling through the county.
“Herefordshire Council has a priority to enable residents to live safe, healthy and independent lives. Ensuring the provision of good quality accommodation for Gypsies and Travellers will help to address the inequalities this community can face when accessing services such as housing, education and social care.”
There will be a public drop-in session at Leominster Library on Thursday 23 November, 3.30-6.30pm for anyone who has questions about the Travellers’ Sites development plan or the consultation. The document is also available to view at libraries across the county.
The consultation runs until midnight on Monday 18 December 2017. To review and comment on the proposals visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk/traveller-sites-consultation
