Looking for fresh fashion with a twist? Come along to Sustainable Style and discover unique fashion finds at a special clothing swap shop and fair being held at the History Store, Hereford.

Taking place on Thursday 25 September from 5-7pm at the History Store, Friars Street, Hereford HR4 0AS, the event is all about giving clothes a new life. It’s free to attend and is perfect for all those who love fashion with a conscience.

Bring along your pre-loved clothes and swap them for something else - simply add your item to the rack and pick something else you’d prefer.*

Come and be inspired by student work on the theme of sustainability and re-use whilst you explore a treasure trove of modern and vintage fabrics, antique lace, haberdashery and more – perfect for creating your own unique style or finding a one-of-a-kind piece.

Damian Etheraads, Head of Culture, Museums, Galleries and Archives at Herefordshire Council, said:

This isn’t your typical jumble sale, it’s a chance to discover fashion that’s affordable, individual, and planet-friendly. Whether you’re hunting for vintage gems, want to swap pre-loved clothes, or get creative with fabrics and upcycling, Sustainable Style is all about making fashion fun and guilt-free.

Sarah King, course leader on the Textile Design Degree at Hereford College of Art (HCA), said:

At HCA, our textiles course is centred on exploring creative, sustainable design. We educate our students to think innovatively about the challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss, encouraging them to adopt circular design principles, regenerative fibre practices, and make the most of our local natural resources. We're proud to showcase just a few inspiring examples of their work at this September's Sustainable Style event.

HCA has seen a spike in young people’s interest in working with textiles. This year’s enrolment is set to double the number of first-year students on its BA (Hons) Textiles degree, while fashion and textiles featured heavily in the summer exhibition showcasing student work from its Post 16 Diploma in Art, Design and Communication.
