Designed to inspire and entertain, there’s everything from hands-on science and creative workshops to behind-the-scenes sessions, sensory displays and pop-up museum experiences at local events across the county. Whether you’re staying local or exploring Herefordshire with the family, there something to spark the imagination of all ages.

At the Old House, High Town, Hereford HR1 2AA:

  • Science Discovery DayWednesday 6 August, 10am–4pm
    Build and test your own mini structure in this hands-on, drop-in challenge for budding engineers and creative minds.
  • It’s About Time…Wednesday 13 August, 10am–4pm
    Make your own sundial or clock to take home. A fast, fun way to explore how people have told time through the centuries.
  • Exploring the World TrailUntil 1 September, drop-in during opening hours
    A STEM*-themed family trail guiding you through the historic rooms of the Old House.

At the History Store, Friars Street, Hereford HR4 0AS:

  • The Sensational Museum Mondays and Tuesdays 10am-4pm, Wednesdays 10am-12.30pm
    Sensory-friendly displays co-designed with local disabled people to test new ways of making museums more inclusive.

Around the county – Museum on the Move pop-ups

Our new Museum on the Move programme is bringing free pop-up museum experiences to events and festivals across Herefordshire this summer. Drop by to explore real museum objects, try hands-on activities, and discover surprising stories from the county’s past.
