Local people are being encouraged to take part in a consultation on a draft Local Cycling, Walking and Wheeling Infrastructure Plan as part of Herefordshire Council’s commitment to enhancing travel choices in the county.
Recent feedback from the Local Transport Plan 5 consultation showed that people wanted improved active travel infrastructure, so this draft plan outlines methods to make walking, cycling and wheeling easier, safer and more accessible in the county.
The proposals have been informed by technical analysis and engagement with key stakeholders. The next step is this public consultation to ensure that the plan, once fully developed, reflects local needs and priorities.
The consultation will run from Tuesday 29 July to Monday 18 August. There will be different sections for the city, market towns, and more rural areas that will include examples of possible enhancement projects.
There will be a map function allowing people to focus on specific locations and make their own suggestions.
Cllr Philip Price, Cabinet Member Transport and Infrastructure, said:
“One of our top priorities as a council is to enhance travel choices for road users, whether pedestrians, joggers, cyclists, riders or drivers. The Local Cycling, Walking and Wheeling Infrastructure Plan will be a key document in these efforts, helping to outline practical measures to improve transport options for all.
“We want the views of local people, however they travel, to help inform this plan, so I would encourage everybody to have their say and take part in the consultation before the deadline.”
