We’re inviting local community groups to take part in a design competition as part of the launch of Museum on the Move.
Museum on the Move is our new travelling museum bringing collections and creativity to events and communities across Herefordshire.
This is your chance to design a bold, joyful feather flag that will be displayed alongside our new electric Museum on the Move van throughout Herefordshire. Whether you’re a youth group, art and craft group or a heritage society, we would love to see what you come up with.
The winning design will be professionally produced as a full-size feather flag to travel with our new Museum on the Move electric van. The winning group will also receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the History Store in Hereford. All entrants will be invited to the Museum on the Move official launch later this year.
To take part, send an email to herefordmuseums@herefordshire.gov.uk and ask for a copy of the design template - or pick up a printed version from The Old House or The History Store in Hereford.
Create your design, being sure to make it bold, joyful and full of character. You’ll also need to tell us in fewer than 50 words what inspired your design and what you hope people will feel when they see it.
Submit your group’s entries by 5pm on Tuesday, 12 August by email, post or in person at the Old House or History Store in Hereford.
Damian Etheraads, Museum and Art Gallery Lead at Herefordshire Council, said:
This is a fantastic opportunity for local community creativity to shine. Whether you're a youth group looking for a fun summer activity, a craft club wanting a new challenge, or a local group keen to get involved in something free and creative, this is for you. It’s a brilliant way to make your mark and we can’t wait to see the ideas that come in and take the winning design out on the road as part of our new Museum on the Move.
