Herefordshire Museums & Galleries is inviting local people to enter an exciting competition to design the wrap for its new Museum on the Move electric van.
Museum on the Move is a new pop-up museum programme that will be bringing objects, displays and creative activities to festivals, schools, towns, villages and community events across Herefordshire from this autumn. Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the programme will take the museum out into communities while Hereford Museum is closed for redevelopment.
The electric van will be used to transport the pop-up displays and will be a highly visible part of the programme. You are now invited to help design an eye-catching and joyful design that gets it noticed on its journey around the county. The winning design will be professionally produced as a full vehicle wrap.
Your design should be bold, characterful and inspired by Herefordshire’s art, collections, culture, landscape, stories and communities. It should also complement the colours and branding of Herefordshire Museums & Galleries.
The winner will receive a £200 prize, and their design will be seen across the county as the van tours Herefordshire later this year.
Damian Etheraads, Museum and Art Gallery Lead at Herefordshire Council, said:
This is a brilliant opportunity for local creativity to shine. We can’t wait to see the ideas that come in and to take the winning design out on the road as part of Museum on the Move.
The competition is now open. Entry details, templates and guidance can be requested by emailing: herefordmuseums@herefordshire.gov.uk.
The closing date for entries is 27 July 2025.
Separate creative competitions for schools and community groups will be launched later this summer as part of the wider Museum on the Move programme.
