Bromyard woman prosecuted for ignoring Community Protection Notice in latest victory for the council’s Community Protection Team

A Bromyard woman has been fined and electronically tagged after failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice issued by Herefordshire Council.

Jane Elizabeth Ball, of Kempson View, Bromyard, was found guilty in her absence at Hereford Magistrates’ Court on 13 May 2025 following an investigation by the council’s Community Protection Team. Officers responded to public complaints and found that waste and other materials had been allowed to accumulate at the property, causing distress to local residents and negatively affecting the area.

Ball was convicted of breaching a Community Protection Notice under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. She was fined £500, ordered to pay a £200 victim surcharge, and costs of £734.45. She was also made subject to an electronically monitored curfew.

Charles Yarnold, Head of Regulation and Technical Services at Herefordshire Council, said: “People who blight their neighbourhoods with waste and ignore repeated warnings will be held accountable. We’re determined to use every legal tool available to protect our communities from this kind of selfish and anti-social behaviour.”
