Herefordshire’s first ever Visible and Valued SEND Celebration Week will run from Thursday 22 to Wednesday 28 May and aims for SEND families to feel visible and valued in their local community.
Children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families and carers will be able to try out exciting new experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Many of the events will be free of charge or offered at a reduced price to help families access as many sessions as possible.
Activities include, stay and play sessions, a family farm day, a range of SEND sessions at Halo leisure centres, sensory room sessions and drop-in opportunities with a range of professionals and practitioners, including health, social care and education.
For a full list of the activities and resources available during the ‘Visible and Valued SEND Celebration Week’ visit the council’s Talk Community website.
Information will also be shared on the SEND Local Offer Facebook page.
Some of the activities must be pre-booked and all sessions are offered on a first come, first served basis.
Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
“I wish all the organisations and groups involved a successful week. I hope this becomes an annual event for our children and young people with SEND and their families.”
Parent Carer Voice Herefordshire, added:
“We encourage families to join us in celebrating this special week for children and young people with SEND and to quickly book the activities before the sessions fill up.”
