Anyone wishing to boost their physical or mental wellbeing is invited to join free outdoor yoga sessions at the Grange in Leominster this summer.
‘Park Yoga’ is running from 9.30-10.30am every Sunday from 4 May to 14 September inclusive. You do not need to have any previous experience of yoga as the classes are suitable for everyone (under-18s must be accompanied by an adult). No pre-booking is required, but please do bring a mat or towel with you, some water and sun cream – or a blanket, if chilly. When arriving at the Grange, head towards the Park Yoga flag where you will be greeted by our qualified yoga instructor, Alison.
Zoe Clifford, Director of Public Health at Herefordshire Council, said:
The benefits of yoga for both physical and mental health are well known. It can improve your flexibility, strength, balance and heart health as well as being great for stress reduction, improved mood and better sleep. Whether you’re a complete beginner who’s never tried yoga before or an experienced yogi, these free outdoor sessions are an ideal opportunity to meet with other members of your community, enhance your wellbeing and enjoy being in the lovely setting at the Grange.
Councillor Carole Gandy, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, said:
The council is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Herefordshire residents and wants to ensure everyone has access to the information and services they need to help them to stay well – both physically and mentally. This Park Yoga initiative is just one of the opportunities open to local people to improve their health and wellbeing. What’s more, as it’s being funded by Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Herefordshire Public Health and Leominster Town Council, it’s completely free of charge to attend.
Lorea Sarobe, Director of Physical Activity and Wellbeing at Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, added:
We are very excited that Park Yoga is coming to Leominster. Offering yoga in an outdoor setting allows participants to enjoy both the physical and mental benefits of movement while embracing being in nature.
