Herefordshire Council pays tribute to former councillor.

Leader of Herefordshire Council, Councillor Jonathan Lester, said:

“It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of former councillor Phil Cutter on Monday 28 April. On behalf of Herefordshire Council, I extend my condolences to his family, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“Phil will be fondly remembered by many past and serving members and officers of Herefordshire Council. He was a dedicated member serving with distinction on this council, a trusted friend and dear colleague.”

Phil Cutter was a former Conservative councillor, who was well-respected and highly regarded by those who knew him and worked with him. Former councillor Cutter served as an elected member from May 2007 to May 2019 representing Ross-on-Wye East ward. In addition to being a ward member, he held a number of prominent committee positions, most notably as Chairperson of the Planning and Regulatory Committee from May 2015 to May 2019.

Former councillor Cutter was actively engaged in assisting his local community to determine and establish strengthened governance arrangements in Ross on Wye.  Working in his capacity as ward councillor he supported residents in Ross-on-Wye Rural and Ross-on-Wye Town to have one council representing the whole area through a Community Governance Review. These arrangements remain in place today.

Flags at council buildings will be raised to half mast, in remembrance and respect, on the day of former councillor Cutter’s funeral, which is yet to be announced.
