Appraisal of western route options to proceed
Plans to progress the Hereford Bypass were approved at a meeting of Herefordshire Council's cabinet today.
Cabinet approved work to proceed appraisal of western route options, environmental and transport surveys and consultations.
Councillor Philip Price, cabinet member infrastructure said:
"It's great news that the Hereford Bypass is gaining momentum and we are pleased to proceed with the next stage.
This has been an historic month for Hereford's infrastructure plans. The bypass is a clear priority for us. We have also seen the contract being awarded to Alun Griffiths Contractors for the City Link Road and the planning committee's support for the Southern Link Road as part of the South Wye Transport Package.
We have ambitious plans for the city's development. All of these projects are essential for the delivery of jobs, homes and a new University which will make Hereford a vibrant economic centre for businesses and an even better place for those who live and work in the city."
The council is committed to early engagement with stakeholders and residents and consultation events are planned for autumn 2016 and 2017.
