Transfer will ensure the success of Hereford's Maylord Orchards Centre

The operational management of the Maylord Orchards Centre in Hereford has transferred to Hoople Group (1 October 2021), basing local staff and operational expertise on-site.

The transfer will help ensure the success of the Maylord Orchards Centre through supporting local business and community use, maximising the use of the site, and the longer term strategy for the development of the centre.

Councillor Gemma Davies, Cabinet member commissioning, procurement and assets, said:

“The Maylord Orchards Centre is in an excellent position to support local business and community use, which is particularly important as the county looks to recover from the impact of covid-19.

“I am delighted that the transfer of operational management to Hoople Group will mean that we can have a management suite based at the centre who will be able to deal swiftly with enquiries from current and potential businesses.  They will also work with our partners at the Hereford City Council, Hereford BID and the Old Market to organise exciting events throughout the year to create a real buzz in our city.  We look forward to filling more units in line with our new Maylord Orchards strategy due in November and to the longer-term development of the Centre as part of our wider plans for the City.

“Over the past few months we have supported a number of local businesses to have a presence in previously vacant units, and the recently opened DWP facility is a significant investment in the centre. We are excited about its potential as a cultural, retail and business/community use hub, and look forward to working with others to secure its future success.”

Audrey Clements, Chief Operating Officer at Hoople Group said:

“We recognise this great opportunity to work with our shareholders, Herefordshire Council, on this journey to develop the asset for Herefordshire, and we look forward to developing the Centre for the local community.”
