Fun, FREE, fitness is now on offer to everyone in academic Years 11-13 in Herefordshire

A new, exciting FREE membership package giving access to Halo facilities across Herefordshire for anyone in academic Years 11-13 (or equivalent) who lives in the county is available from Wednesday 22 September 2021 - UKActive National Fitness Day.

The offer is part of a £6million investment, funded from the Government’s Covid-19 Outbreak Management Funds grant, as part of Herefordshire Council’s Covid-19 recovery plan to support economic and wellbeing recovery in the county, and Halo Leisure’s commitment to promoting young people’s health and wellbeing.

Amy Pitt, Assistant Director Talk Communities Programme at Herefordshire Council said:

“Young people have played their part in the last 18 months, staying away from each other and the things they love to protect themselves and vulnerable people around them. But it’s becoming clear the impact the pandemic and the disruption it caused has had on their mental and physical health. Now they’re moving back into the new normal way of studying, training or working, there is still a lot of pressure. Exercising with others is one of the best ways to help relieve that.

“We are delighted to work with local social enterprise and registered charity Halo Leisure to fund this wonderful initiative that is all about getting more young people more active more often.”

Alex Haines, Halo Partnership Manager, added:

“Halo provides a Covid-secure space (approved by UKActive) where young people can work out or wind down together,” said Alex Haines, Halo Partnership Manager. Sign up before 31 December 2021 to get a full academic year (until 31 August 2022) worth of free access to all Halo facilities across the County. You can choose how you move - in the gym, in the pool, at group exercise classes, in the toning suite or on the golf course.”
