Herefordshire showcases engineering expertise at national event today

Invest in Herefordshire is joining forces with leading Hereford engineering company KGD at one of the UK’s biggest engineering exhibitions today (Wednesday 4 November).

The Invest in Herefordshire team, part of Herefordshire Council, is sharing an exhibition stand with Hereford-based engineering and manufacturing specialist KGD at Advanced Engineering 2026, taking place at the NEC Birmingham today and tomorrow (4 and 5 November).

The two-day event brings together thousands of professionals from across the UK’s engineering and manufacturing industries, providing an opportunity to promote Herefordshire as a location for business investment, expansion and innovation.

The partnership with KGD is helping to demonstrate the expertise and capabilities already found in the county.

Based in Rotherwas, Hereford, KGD has more than 40 years’ experience designing and manufacturing specialist engineering equipment for industries including energy, nuclear, hydrogen, pharmaceuticals and food production.

The company’s success demonstrates how Herefordshire businesses can compete in highly specialised national and international markets.

Alongside promoting the county’s established engineering sector, the Invest in Herefordshire team is highlighting opportunities for businesses looking to establish or expand their operations in the area.

These include Ross-on-Wye Enterprise Park, a 17-acre development offering new opportunities for engineering, advanced manufacturing and other growing businesses.

Located close to the A40 and M50, the development provides connections to the Midlands, South Wales and the South West.

The first phase will provide four serviced development plots of approximately one acre each, expected to be available from spring 2027.

Herefordshire Council's Cabinet Member for Economy and Growth, Councillor Graham Biggs, said:

“Herefordshire has a great deal to offer businesses looking for somewhere to invest and grow, and Advanced Engineering provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate that to a national audience.
“We already have some outstanding engineering and manufacturing businesses operating in the county, and KGD is a great example of the expertise, innovation and ambition that exists here.
“By working alongside local businesses and promoting opportunities such as Ross-on-Wye Enterprise Park, we want to attract further investment, support business growth and create more skilled, better paid jobs for local people.”

Ed Pitt, Managing Director of KGD, said:

“KGD has been based in Hereford for more than 40 years, and we’re proud of the engineering expertise and manufacturing capabilities we’ve developed here.
“We work with customers across a wide range of industries, delivering complex engineering projects that demonstrate what businesses based in Herefordshire can achieve.
“Sharing a stand with Invest in Herefordshire at Advanced Engineering is a great opportunity to showcase those capabilities, make new connections and help demonstrate why the county is a strong location for engineering and manufacturing businesses.”

The Invest in Herefordshire team is using the event to engage directly with businesses considering expansion, relocation or future investment, as well as developing relationships across the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
