Make a date for Herefordshire Council’s new Garden Waste Collection Service
Herefordshire residents who have signed up for the Council’s new Garden Waste Collection Service can now check when their collection dates will be as the schedules are announced.
From today (Friday 13 March), subscribers will receive an email letting them view their collection schedule online using the Council’s Check your bin collection day tool.
Residents who have signed up for the service without using an email address will be contacted by post.
The service has attracted strong interest from residents, with most people who have signed up already have their bins ready for collections to start but deliveries are still ongoing. Collections start from the end of this month so everyone can expect their first collection by Friday 10 April and every fortnight after.
Residents can place grass cuttings, hedge clippings, leaves, twigs, small branches, dead flowers, weeds, and windfall fruit in their bins and Herefordshire Council will turn it into compost to support local green growth. The service costs £60 per year — just £2.40 per collection, plus a £10 per bin delivery fee — and is flexible: residents can share bins with neighbours, add extra bins, or transfer their subscription if they move home.
Herefordshire Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for the Environment, Cllr Elissa Swinglehurst, said:
“We know that planning your garden waste collections is important, so we’re delighted that residents who have signed up can now see their collection days online. This is another step in making the service convenient, environmentally friendly, and easy to use. If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time to join in and get ready for the season ahead.”
The service will be key to helping residents reduce trips to recycling centres while keeping Herefordshire’s gardens green and tidy.
